I believe that this movie will shed the light on the broken silence of loosing a child, what it can do to you as a couple and how it affects those around you. Many people have no idea what to do or say and I hope that the movie educates people including hospital staff to know how to support and comfort those who have experienced a loss. It is important for others to be there to support you even if its with a hug or a hand on your shoulder, a cry or just listening. Unless you have been in the shadow of loss it will be uncomfortable looking on but this movie I am sure will give you an idea on how to support someone on the other side.
My journey to parenthood went from going through the devastation of infertility and loss of our daughter in 2007 at 25 weeks. We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and when we became pregnant we were over the moon. Making it passed the so called "safe time" made the news of our loss unimaginable. Infertility took us to pregnancy, then ten steps back to loss. It's like the title of the movie "Return to Zero" this is so true! We returned to square one - back to the beginning. With all new beginnings for us came an ending, giving birth to our son almost a year later. My second pregnancy came with added fear, always looking back and wondering what might happen today. I am truly grateful for my son everyday and miss my daughter everyday but in life I believe things happen in ways we might not ever understand but we keep going.
I continue to heal everyday. Writing my book The Truth Behind The Secret "Infertility" sharing my personal journey through infertility and loss helped me heal. Reflecting and acknowledging helped us move forward without forgetting. Loss does not come without anger, guilt, embarrassment or fear - it comes with painful strength, bravery and support. Healing at your own pace is important and nobody can tell you how to feel. Feel and express your emotions, communicate as a couple and know that you are not alone!
This movie is a tribute to Sean and Kiley Hanish's baby and to all those that have lost a child through stillbirth, it's a voice for them, with honor and grace to be remembered always. A heartfelt thank you to Director/Producer, Sean Hanish for opening the door for conversations of healing.
