Infertility is the inability to conceive or retain a pregnancy during a one-year period or if you are over 35 years old a six month period. You should consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist to determine your fertility. Infertility is a diagnosis by a professional health care provider. There are many different diagnosis of infertility, one-third of cases are male factors, other diagnosis pertain to the women's reproductive system, and about 10% of cases are both partners which are known as "unexplained infertility". Some infertility treatments that are done after diagnosis are IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) IVF (Invitro Fertilization) or third party reproductive alternatives; such as donor egg, donor sperm, donor embryo and surrogacy. Some cases of infertility which is becoming more common is secondary infertility, where the couple had no issues conceiving their first child and now go on to find out that they are having problems conceiving. In addition, some couples also turn to adoption as another alternative.
